Andy Richards graduated from London’s St Mary’s Hospital medical school in 1996 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery Degree and an Honours Degree in Physiology. This was followed by specialist orthopaedic training where he focused on shoulder and elbow surgery. Andy then completed a fellowship at the highly-renowned John Hopkins Hospital in the US where his research on rotator cuff tears results in the award of a Master of Surgery degree.
Further fellowships were completed in complex trauma and reconstructive surgery and arthroscopic surgical techniques in hospitals in and around London.
In 2009 Andy received the position of consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals with a specialist interest in shoulder and elbow surgery and and he runs a referral practice that deals with the more complex traumatic injuries of the upper limb.
He also specialises in the treatment of sports injuries, both surgically and non-surgically, and works closely with leading physiotherapists in aiding patients to return as quickly as possible to full normal function or sporting activities, at all levels.
